Right. Demographic studies indicate that "Wal-Mart customers' average incomes are below the national average... I had my wife write the check for the first time this quarter. She now knowswhy I grump around for a few days four times a year. Just be grateful we don't get all the government we pay for. -- Doug |

If one is not able to live comfortably after taxes, then one needs to make practical choices, and quit expecting government to grease the skids of your livelihood. |

It's time to put our collective foot down and say "No More!" I just shipped off a check for 3Q 2006 quarterly estimated taxes. It's ridiculous. My quarterly tax bill to the IRS and the Ohio Dept. of Taxation, when combined, is *more* than the annual median income in my state. A single quarter. Ridiculous. The way I figure it, this year I'm paying for four complete families to live on my tax dollars. When you figure that SS, Welfare, WIC, et.al. -- when you figure these (in any combination) ain't gonna get anywhere near "median" income levels, you're really looking at me supporting 6 or 8 families, in addition to my own. (Yes, I'm in a bad mood. You would be too.) It's time we quit taking some folks' money to pay for other folks' bad decisions. The way I see it -- if you're taking my money to live your life, then I've got a say in how you live it. If you want me to butt out, then you can't have my money. So ... yeah -- live close to the services you use. |

No, senior citizens have different requirements than younger people. It> etc.? Lots of folks shop at these places... is very common for senior citizens to experience moderate declines in eyesight, depth perception, and reflexes as they age. They can be quite capable of driving locally at moderate speeds, but can have difficulty with dense, high-speed freeway traffic. They can also have additional difficulty with their eyesight at night. So, they need places to shop that they can drive to without getting on the freeway, and close enough that they can get home well before dark. John Cowart |

| According to a study done by Washington University you should look for a retirement community that is: Less than 10 miles from a WalMart. Less than 20 miles form a Costco or Sams Club. And less then 10 miles from a Lowes or Home Depot or other discount hardware store. Also, To estimate the cost of living in the area that your are considering moving to, go in a McDonalds and check the price of a Big Mac and the compare it to the price of a Big Mac where you live now.
