Default Re: Recharacterization of Roth IRA question

Yes. In fact, from my reading, one of the main purposes of a
recharacterization is to allow people to fine tune one's
taxes such that the final, net conversion keeps them just
barely out of the next tax bracket. The only way to achieve
this is to allow conversions to be only partially
recharacterized.

Default Recharacterization of Roth IRA question

Can only a PORTION of a conversion from a traditional IRA to a Roth IRA
be recharacterized back to the traditional IRA (for the current year)?

I'm aware that April 15th of '07 is the deadline for a
recharacterization for an '06 conversion along with any gains.

TIA
