| It seems political uncertainties increase probabilities that energy costs will remain where they are or go higher. Today, there are probably positive correlations between oil and other energy sectors, but the economics and companies differ and in some cases other factors may override the price of oil. Standard portfolio considerations are part of your decisions to buy or sell. |

| What is the Prevailing Wisdom - and, more important, likely to be correct Wisdom - whether to hold or to sell oil, gas, electricity, and other energy stocks which have produced substantial but for use unrealized capital gains, which possibly could continue to rise in (if not sold or otherwise cashed in, just putative) value, or plateau, or begin to slip if income to energy companies begin to fall. How much, as it were, stock ought one place on the apparent fact, e.g., that despite the recent BP pipeline fiasco, trading cost for energy related trusts and other enterprises in the area has so far remained stable -- IOW, that knowledgeable insiders and related market creators are continuing to act on the belief that oil is a winner? Cash out then be disappointed if the stocks' sold continue to rise in market value/price or hold and risk being disappointed if those unrealized gains melt away . . . . ? |
