You might consider going to the local library and checking out stock
picking newsletters. Generally a newsletter may have alternative
portfolios for growth vs. income and reports the performance of those
portfolios over time.

Also there is a newsletter by Hulbert which ranks stock and mutual fund
newsletters. I picked one of Hulberts top mf newsletters and have been
very pleased with the results.

Which ones are you looking at now?

What kind of analysis are you looking for?

I find myself looking most frequently at Yahoo and Morningstar.
