| Thanks for the advice. Actually, it turned out that the plan wasn't a 401k at all. Fidelity is allowing her new employer to create an account despite the existing account. bo peep wrote: - quote - > kramer.newsreader[at]gmail.com wrote: > > Aparently a small part time job that she had earlier set up an account > > for her and didn't tell her that they had created that account, so she > > doesn't have the login and password. > Try https://rps.fidelity.com/ftgw/rps/RtlCust/ResetPIN/Init > John Cowart |

They had a couple of forms that I had to fill out and have notarized, and then they were able to give me access to the account again. I would expect that Fidelity would have some similar process. I doubt that your wife is the only person this has ever happened to ![]() -- Jennifer |

| Hello. Please forgive me if my question is somewaht naive. My wife is trying to set up her 401k. It's her first real job. Fidelity is the plan manager for my wife's company. The company was not able to set up an account, so she called Fidelity. It turns out that there is an account with the same SS# at Fidelity. Aparently a small part time job that she had earlier set up an account for her and didn't tell her that they had created that account, so she doesn't have the login and password. She has tried contacting her previous employer, but has been able to get in touch with anyone. Fidelity won't create a new account with that SS# and won't let her cancel the old account (which must have a $0 balance since she never contributed anything). Is there anything that we can do besides hope that we can get in touch with her former employer? |
