Certainly, you can move your IRA money between various mutual funds,
stocks, bonds, MM, CD's, etc. within an account. But per another post
there may be a penalty pulling out of a mutual fund too soon or switching
too often. For example at Fidelity, their own funds typically have a 30
day minimum holding period, and non-Fidelity funds might have a penalty if
you pull out within 180 days. So check particular mutual funds at
whatever broker you are considering.

For more frequent trading, you can do ETF's or individual stocks at most
any discount broker.

You can trade within an IRA (the Roth part doesn't make any difference).
But some funds impose a penalty if you don't hold them long enough;
even so, you don't have to hold them forever.

Default Roth IRA

Hello all-

I have a general question(s) about Roth IRA accounts. Can I buy and
sell mutual funds freely within an IRA account or is it more of a
matter of once you buy a mutual fund you are in it until you withdraw
funds from the account? Say I have 5K in a mutual fund that I am not
happy with, can I sell it and buy into another fund? I am not talking
about taking money out of the account for my own use at that time. My
question is purely in regards to selling and keeping money within the
account.

Thanks!
Patrick
