These days many (most?) brokerages will do free dividend reinvestments
for stocks.

You are correct that additional purchases will incur commissions,
though. However, purchasing $750 once per quarter (or $1000 every
four months, or $1500 every six months) will not give an appreciable
performance difference relative to purchasing $250 per month while
saving a bunch in commissions.

Once you transfer your DRIPS to Ameritrade (or any other brokerage),
how to do you purchase fractional shares for the amount of divident,
and the (regular monthly) cash purchases?

Wouldn't any purchases at Ameritrade will have to be in round lots? HOw
do you purchase XOM shares at Ameritrade for $250/month, and for the
$63.79 quarterly dividend that you might receive?

I was trying to have a consolidated accoutn and a single, combined
quarterly and annual statement.

I transferred my DRIPS to my Ameritrade account to avoid the commissions
charged by the services like Equiserve and Computershare

I have had good experience with Computershare. But I am not sure why you
believe the transfer agents are all that important. There are hundreds of
companies from which you can buy DRIPs directly without paying attention to
either Computershare's or Equiserve's websites. The paper work may be
handled by them, but you are not limited to any lists of companies on their
sites. Maybe I am missing something here.

Default DRIP Investing: What's up with Equiserve & Computershare merger?

Equiserve is managing agent for dividend reinvestment plan (DRIP) and
Direct stock purchase plan (DSPP) for many companies. I have been with
them for about 6 years now for XOM (nee XON) and LMT. Their service has
been OK, but they don't provide a combined, consolidated statement for
different holdings.

It appears that some time back, Computershare bought or merged with
Equiserve. www.equiserve.com says ("Computershare, formerly Equiserve),
but still I don't see any cohercency between Equiserve and
computershare. The look and feel of the two websites is different, and,
in fact, the list of companies for which one can invest at the two
sites is mutually exclusive.

Are there other DRIP /DSPP agents that offer consolidated statements?
Does computershare (which will end up owning my Equiserve accounts)
have a good reputation with people reading this group?
