Default Re: Way to structure to allow self employed 401k

Look to add profit sharing to the current plan and you can get to the same
place. The rules for Solo 401k plans are exactly the same as a regular 401k.

Creating the separate holding company won't get you anywhere.

There are ways to add benefits, life insurance, top hat plans and non
qualified plans for example, that can help get more money out.

Talk with somebody that understands corporate benefits for what would work
best for your situation.

Default Way to structure to allow self employed 401k

I am a 28.3% owner of a business. Today that business has a 401k that I
participate in. I was looking for a way to restructure my ownership in that
business to allow me to get a self employed 401k which has much higher
contribution limits ($44k vs $15k in the traditional 401k).

Thoughts were if I created a holding company and transferred my ownership in
the business to it and then not participate in the businesses 401k. But not
sure if that buys me anything.

I know there must be some way to do it. What if I was an investor and owned
various % of several businesses, each with it's own 401k? Is their something
to the fact that I am a MANAGING member of the business that would restrict
me from doing this?

Any ideas?
