There's no "harm" in it, but personally, I am trying to cut back on
the number of funds I own to simplify keeping track of them. If you
change jobs several times over the years, you can end up with multiple
401(k) accounts all with different fund choices, plus IRA and regular
taxable investment accounts that have still different choices again.
That's my situation. I'm trying to combine the accounts with smaller
balances and simplify my investment strategies so that I have fewer
holdings. E.g., I decided a single go-anywhere balanced fund makes
more sense for my active 401(k) than building up small positions in
multiple funds.

Default non-active funds

With some help from this group, I've come up with a 401-K asset
allocation i'm happy with. I'm now left with three funds that I will no
longer be investing in. They all have very small amounts of money, with
a total value of around $500 (I've just got back in my 401-K and these
funds were part of my initial choices before doing much research).

The funds are Lord Abbett Small Cap Value
Templeton Emerging Markets
Vanguard 500 Growth Index

My question is: Any harm in just leaving the funds open, have some fun
watching what they do over the next few years, and maybe learn a little
something along the way as I try to educate myself in investing?

Or, transfer the balances to my active funds:
Vanguard Life Strategy Growth 60%
Vanguard Capital Opportunity 25%
Vanguard International Growth 15%
