I'm not saying that investing in a Roth may not be advantageous, it's just that usually the decision comes down to when you want to save the taxes, now or in retirement, not to what the return is of the investment, since that could be the same either way. |

| There's no match so I'd focus on getting all you can into the Roth. Unless you need to save money on taxes by reducing your net pay. The return on your money in the Roth will outstrip the tax savings now and you would have to pay taxes when you withdraw it anyway. On the plus side, if you go with a Roth, you can use the money in the future for certain expenses, like a first house or medical bills. That's the best advice I'd have for a friend. |

| A question for a friend. 28 yr old single mother of 2 (9 & 2), she contributs to 403b $ 200 / pay period , which is below what she can contribute. No match from employer. She wants to start a Roth IRA , should she fund her 403b to the max possible first ? or is it wise to start a Roth now? Thanks in advance for your answers. |
