| I actually went to one of their meetings and it's basically the same the as Primerica. A MLM which sells investment products. The products they sell are legit and you have to get the appropriate series 6 & 63 licensing to sell 'em. They actually do have a wide range of products, much more than Primerica does. But again it's an MLM and they're more concerned about recruiting a bunch of people than offering a quality service to their customers. It may be a good place to start for someone who ones to get into financial services and get a broker sponsored licensing, but get out as soon as you can. Will,> Group as a financial planner. Anyone know if this company is reputable? Hmmm...reputable? I don't have any personal experience with the company but I've heard plenty of criticism about it. The typical line is "WFG is just an MLM that force-feeds everyone VUL." (MLM being multi-level marketing company - a strong focus on recruiting other people to the company, instead of just selling stuff) The counter-response usually goes "we help an underserved market and (insert analogy between any company with compensated sales managers, and an MLM)." Primerica is similar, with a focus on (relatively expensive) term life insurance, and the two have the same roots, as I recall (a company called AL Williams). He might want to read through the many threads on WFG here: http://www.financial-planning.com/phorum/index.php You can search the discussion board archives, there's plenty there, including both pro and con. I'm a moderator on that site and this is one of those topics where we need to actually do some moderating, the discussions can get "spirited." Here's one of the sites criticizing WFG. I have no idea how credible it is but, well, he can read and decide for himself: http://www.wfg-offline.com/ -Tad |
