The last time I checked, their own web site says they are NOT financial
planners. This should be intuitive, but the disclaimer exists, nonetheless.

The impression that I have is that the financial advice is hit or miss,
with more bad than good. The standards are low -- the company rewards
selling product and recruitment, so if you get a good advisor you are
just lucky.

Plus the funds and insurance offered by Primerica is rarely the best
deal available. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole, unless
someone you know happens to be an advisor and you trust them already.
But, to be frank, if they are really good and care about selling the
best products to clients -- why are they working for Primerica and not
somebody else (or independently)? You might find a few people who are
new to the industry who are actually good, but they are probably just
using Primerica for initial experience and looking to get out when they
can.

Suck, no, and no. As a for example, I have seen them suggest
(1) cash out no-load funds to buy their loaded funds, and (b)
refi a mortgage for a higher interest rate just to get a biweekly
when the person could have done that with their existing loan
and not paid the closing costs or the higher rate.

With MLM, you get folks in the business who have no background
or formal training. All the so-called planners have are one
or two weekends of Primerica training. That cannot compare
to the cycle of classes and refresher training that a real
financial planner or even a broker goes through.

More than likely, this rep is a family member or a friend.
I'd let them know that I never do business with friends and
family because I value the friendship far more greatly than
I value money, and I don't want to lose the relationship
over a few dollars.

Default Primerica - provider of good financial advice?

First, I do not wish to discuss the claims that Primerica is a MLM
recruitment operation. I do not care. I am curious about being a
client, not a rep. Second, I do not care about their life insurance or
mortage refinancing.
With that said, how is their financial planning? Do they give good
advice? Are they ethical? I have an appointment to discuss investment
opportunites (not debt reduction or insurance) and I want to know
peoples' experiences with the advice given by Primerica.

Thanks!
