| It sounds like your receipts that are on thermal paper are vanishing. This is the same paper that was used in the old fax machines. If the characters are smudging or vanishing, it is likely due to quality of the original. The best solution is to copy or scan the document, if you need to keep it. Regarding financial records in general, some brokerages, including Fidelity, make historical account statements available to investors online, in PDF format. For paper records with no electronic equivalents available, I recommend scanning them into a computer file and making regular backups (perhaps by emailing them to a free web account such as Yahoo or Gmail that provides considerable storage). |

| Anybody grappled with problems of financial record ink disappearing? Seems like a lot of register tape from a year or two ago is going invisable on me, including from USPS. Is this a known problem? Is there a way to recover, like soaking in lemon juice or something? I hope that technology has been fixed, so we don't have to photocopy everything for preservation. |
