Default Re: A plea from a financial novice-schwab or not to schwab

You will want to combine the 2 accounts, one is an IRA and the other is
401k. Later when you are doing required minimum distributions, it'll be
easier to calculate.

With the assets in one place, it will be better to do your asset allocation.

Ask about principal protection.

Talk to both of them and get another opinion from an independent financial
planner.

Good luck.

Default A plea from a financial novice-schwab or not to schwab

My wife has a charles schwab custodian account which generates about
$10m in fees for Charles. My problem is that once the asset classes are
set up (% stocks , bonds etc) there doesn't appear to be much work
involved by the financial guy we deal with.
My wife has been told by this financial planner to move her verizon
savings and retirement account with a $350m vested balance to Schwab
and bundle it with her already existing Schwab funds. Fidelity manages
the verizon plan. My question is this: should she move this fidelity
/verizon money to a separate Schwab ira or should she roll it over to a
separate fidelity ira? I don't know what the transaction costs of the
fidelity ira would be. Her verizon account appreciated $7M during the
last qtr of 2004. 60% of the verizon/fidelity fund is in stocks, 2% in
bonds and 38% in short term investments. I am hoping that all these
various institutions carry insurance for these accounts. thanks in
advance.
