Roger,
Couple comments here. First, that Fidelity fund invests in small to mid
sized foreign stocks. The MSCI-EAFE index is sort of the foreign version
of the S&P 500 stock index, it's a large-company index of foreign
stocks. While there is some correlation between international small and
large company stocks, they tend to behave differently. Point being, this
fund isn't strictly to track MSCI-EAFE returns. That might be the
benchmark index shown on a mutual fund report but it's a different
basket of stocks.

There are quite a few funds that should more closely track MSCI-EAFE, if
that's what you're looking for. For example the iShare with ticker EFA,
or Vanguard's Total International Stock Index Fund, or Fidelity's
Spartan International Index Fund. These don't all benchmark to the EAFE
index but the holdings are similar (large company foreign stocks).

Regarding the outlook, you might visit the site of Morgan Stanley
Capital International, the "MSCI" in the index name. Not that I think
they'll have any particular insights but there will be some form of
commentary. As difficult as assessing the short-term direction of the
S&P 500 is, it's much much harder for an index like MSCI-EAFE, which
involves dozens of countries and multiple currencies. I don't think
anyone can do much good predicting that, it's too complex and involves
too many unknowns.

Basic world index quotes are at http://finance.yahoo.com/intlindices . The
MSCI-EAFE Index trades as an iShares ETF with the symbol EFA, quotes and
charts are available at http://finance.yahoo.com and www.bigcharts.com. As
far as where the index is headed is easy, it will fluctuate.

Default Looking for Market News Source

Hi, I recently invested in Fidelity International Small Cap Fund which
follows the MSCI-EAFE index. I have tried to search for market news on the
internet in an attempt to get the outlook for the way the index is headed
but was unsuccessful. I will appreciate a pointer in the right direction.
Thanks,
Roger
