I just got something about my BankOne IRA CD regarding the Chase merger.
Now they are going to extract a $50 fee for a check to transfer any IRA
funds to another financial institution. Normally a bank CD has no fees.

It is high, but get ready to give them another wad to close out and transfer
your IRA. Seems like that should be illegal. You decide you don't like
them and want to leave--they charge you to leave.

and Fidelity to name a couple.

I agree, my IRA's charge $10 a year and if you have more than $1000 balance
or make dedicated contributions of $25 or more a month that is waived. And
you can open an account for as little as $300 or $0 and a dedicated $25 a
month contribution.

Waterhouse only charges $25, and once you hit a certain point, you no longer
have any fee. I can't remember what the amount is to avoid the fee -- I'm
thinking around $15 - $20K. I've had my accounts with Waterhouse for years,
and have been extremely happy.
