Default Re: why is Fidelity pushing 401k to rollover IRA?

They might be pushing it because you almost always have better
investment options in a rollover IRA then in a 401K. This might
actually be in your best interest. If you don't like Fidelity, roll it
over someplace else. Also by combining the accounts could allow for
larger transactions or investments that could lower your overall
investing cost.

Fidelity would probably make more by your having 3 different 401k
plans.

If one of the plans doesn't have much in it, their accounting costs
might be more than they make from it.

You are limited to what you can invest in with a 401k, in an IRA, you
can select from many mutual funds, stocks, or even options.

Later when it comes to required minimum distributions, it will be easier to
figure it out.

I would consolidate the 3 401ks into a single IRA or into your next
employer's 401k to optimize asset allocation.

If the transfers are done at NAV, so what if the guy makes money in the
deal.

Default why is Fidelity pushing 401k to rollover IRA?

Hello group,

I have 3 different 401k plans from 3 different employers, all with
fidelity.

One of their "financial advisors" seemed quite intent on having me roll
them all together into a single IRA. I can't help but think he's
getting comission or something similar. He claimed easier access to
funds in case of death, etc.

Why do they care? Does Fidelity make more when I have an IRA?

Having the 3 401k's is no bother to me, so I'm inclined to leave as is.

thanks.

chris
