| The surrender charge, if you change your mind, that annuity has a 10 year charge. I own it, and I'm ten years from retirement. That is why a VA and a senior usually don't mix, the liquidity, if you want out. If the systematic withdrawal works for you or you can make the time commitment, it is a good product. | I have retired and would like to invest some money which is now held in CD's in an investment that will defer taxes and provide a better return on investment than CD's. I am considering investing in ING's GoldenSelect Variable Annuities with the Max 7% Solution Enhanced Death Benefit and PrincipalGuard Withdrawal options. Does this seem like a reasonable low risk alternative to CD's. The information I have seems to indicated that principal and gains are protected, taxes are deferred and they should perform better that CD's. This all seems to be too good to be true. What is the downside of this type of investment? Howard |
