John,

Thanks for the reply, this is going to be a long term, all of us agree
on putting this money on a side and invest it, again we are looking
for long run investment with reasonable monthly/yearly return.

It depends on your time frame for using the money. If it is less
than about 5 years, then preservation of the original amount is
more important than rate of return. That means getting the best
rate of return that you can find on a money market or CD account.
If your time frame is longer than 5 years, then your loss of
purchasing power becomes a big risk, and you likely need to be
looking at bonds or stocks to make up for that risk. Perhaps some
no-load index funds or a balanced fund would do the trick. Bond
funds are risky due to interest rates going up, and individual
stocks are not a good idea with that relatively small amount of
money (you cannot buy enough stocks to be both diversified and to
overcome the commission charages).

Default Looking for advice

Hello,

Me and my sibblings will be receiving a sum of 100K from my father in
next few weeks, I am looking for a less risky investment advice, what
would be a better option i.e. stocks, mutual funds, saving account,
money market, etc..

TIA
