Default Non-qualified annuity. Minimum required distribution rules.

My father became contract owner of his ex-wife's non-qualified annuity
pursuant to divorce. He is 80. Do minimum required distribution
rules apply to non-qualifed annuities? Thanks in advance for any
replies.
