Default SEP IRA for 2002 - Can I contribute now

Hi All,

We are going to file our tax return for tax year 2002, now in July
2004. Myself and my wife have an LLC. Income from LLC will roll into
our Personal return.

We paid an estimated tax amount when we filed the extension request in
April 2002.

Can we contribute to our SEP-IRA now for tax year 2002? This could
reduce our tax return and we would get a refund.

Please advise.

Thanks

Paddy

Sorry, the SEP must be funded by the due date of the return
including extensions. To allow someone to fund one with a late
filed return would essentially allow you to get a benefit from
having failed to file a return (being able to fund your SEP long
after the return was due) that is not available to individuals who
complied with the law.
