| Rollover the account at Fidelity and then move it, if you want to. Fidelity, and most 401k providers, fight hard to keep the 401k money in house and are aggressive with questions and taking things to the time limits. However, they are not so defensive when it comes to transferring an IRA out and are more efficient in exciting instructions. There are advantages to having the money in the IRA as opposed to leaving it at the 401k. "John A. You can also invest in Vanguard exchange traded funds through any stock broker. But why bother when you can go direct to Vanguard, and not have to pay brokerage and management fees (other than the small fees that Vanguard charges)? You say you are currently with Fidelity. If you have had a good experience with Fidelity, why not leave your account at Fidelity? That would certainly make the roll-over a bit easier. -john- -- ================================================== ================== John A. | I have a 401k with Fidelity, but I just changed jobs and want to roll it over into an IRA. Does anyone have any input on which institutions are best? (Vanguard, Fidelity, etc). I like Vanguard's low loads, but can I rollover my 401k into Vanguard funds through another institution? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Dave |
