As you increase investment costs - you've just added fund fees of
around .5% to 1% on top of the advisor's 1.5% fee - you begin to
reduce the odds that the advisor will beat the market net of fees over
the long-term.

If he holds himself out to be an Investment Advisor Representative, then
NASD regs require him to deliver to you his ADV Part 2. The paperwork that
describes his services and how he gets paid and you can ask for the part 1
as well , that lists the people involved. But that would answer the other
questions as to how else he is getting paid.

Your question is net of all expenses, what can he do for you.

If assets grow, the fee, as a percentage should drop. 1.5% until they reach
certain points, then dropping to 25 or 50 basis points.

Yes, the 1.5% is in addition to the mutual fund expense ratios. There will
be no commissions or brokerage fees.

Guess I didn't do my homework! What is an ADV-Part 2?
And, 2nd part, I pay the 1.5% portfolio value quarterly,
gain or loss. There was no mention of a fee increase as the assets grow. I
think my problem is, I'm going to have a hard time paying the fee if the
portfolio is in a negative position. I know there are no guarantees.

Is that on top of mutual fund expense ratios, individual stock
commissions, brokerage account fee, etc.?

If you like the methods he uses, the fee is not out of line for the
portfolio size.

Did you do all your homework, all the way to looking at his ADV-Part 2?

As the assets grow will the fee change?

Default Assets Under Management Fee-reasonable?

Hello,
I found a financial advisor I think I would like to work with (CFP). He
will work with any commission stucture I'm comfortable with. I like the
idea of AUM but the cost is 1.5% annual, adjusted quartly. Assets are less
than 150k. Is this a reasonable fee? Thanks for your opinions.
