1) A company that has low fees.

2) A company that offers the wide range of investments and funds,
including low cost funds, that you need to have.

3) Someone who isn't going to screw it up like your last one.

The biggest considerations are how convenient of access (ie,
your local bank branch, an office across town, or an 800 number)
and how much help you need (no help, 800 number help, or full
service).

Of the big names, I have heard both good and bad. The exceptions
are Prudential and Primerica, of which I have only heard bad.
It looks like the rule is to avoid any company that starts with
P. Funny how that also incluces Putnam, which has been a dog
for the past few years. Please note that if you do pick a bank,
your account will most likely not be FDIC insured, so do check
on the exact type of insurance coverage that you will have.

Look for a situation that has funds to meet your needs. How much do you have
move and what are your other investments.

You want to compliment what you already have or get a good base if you have
nothing.

You'd probably spend more time worrying about matching furniture than to be
sure your investments are working the most efficiently.

I'd look for a large fund company - I prefer mutual funds to individual
stock issues. My preference is for no load mutual funds and I think Vanguard
is the leader in low costs.
www.vanguard.com

My own experience with this company is that transfers between funds is very
easy, including online. You can download whatever forms you need from the
website. They also have the prospectus and latest annual report available
for each of their funds. If you need help, they have phone assistance
available long hours, so you don't have to worry about time zones.

Default What to look for in a rollover IRA account?

My current employer has a 401k plan which I am investing 10% into.
(Fidelity)

I have a 401k from a previous employer. (Cigna)

In order to diversify my funds, I am looking for a Rollover IRA,
instead of rolling this into my new 401k

My wife did the same thing, ended up rolling a small 401k account
into a LaSalle rollover IRA (they messed it up and it went into a CD)
We are now struggling to get it fixed.

What things should I be looking at when searching for a company to
roll the funds into?
Any suggestions on companies?
