I totally agree that trusts are not a do it yourself item. However when

time you will greatly increase thae chances that the visit to a lawyer
will be rewarding.

The best book on Trusts I have ever seen is "Your Living Trust and
Estate Plan" by Harvey J Platt.

I would say that trusts are NOT a do it yourself item (and I believe
that investments can be do it yourself). If your financial situation
is so simple that you can do a do it yourself trust, then you don't
need a trust! Wills are not do it yourself either, IMO. Bottom line,
you need a lawyer. I suggest you get ahold of your local bar
association and find out who is currently the lawyer who heads the
trust lawyers of the local bar or who has been awarded or recognized
lately. Or perhaps your family lawyer could recommend someone.

If you visit your boookstore you can find book about preparation of a
trust. It is not wise to follow the book and prepare your own but the
book will at least guide you in asking the questions you should ask.
After reading the book you will be able to visit an attorney and
minimize the wasted time. You will have more confidence in the result.

Be very, VERY careful with questions like this. The type of trust that
works for one person and their particular situation may not be at all
appropriate for you and your situation. To get the best fit for you, I
would suggest you approach this from the other position - first, list out
your goals, then list out your assets, then meet with a professional who can
structure a trust to achieve YOUR goals using YOUR assets - or at least get
as close as possible.

Also, keep in mind that frequently you may need more than one trust or more
than one type of trust, again depending on your particular situation.

Default Need help - What type of trust you did for your family?

Greetings! I have to make a trust for my family soon. I am interested
in knowing how the other members of this NG made their trust to look
after their family so that I have an idea how to instruct the trustee
about investments. With thanks.
