Thanks, Tad. I'm under 50 so I assume I can make my contribution for
2003 and 2004 only at this point, 2002 is a lost cause. Appreciate
the info, I'm now going to have deductions automatically made to make
my contributions!

"Catch-up contributions" refers to the higher contribution limits for
individuals who are age 50 or older at the close of the tax year
(12/31). If you meet that, and you meet the other requirements, you can
contribute an extra $500 above the normal $3000 limit.

The tax-filing-date deadline for making the contribution (usually April
15) still applies though. So even if you qualify for a catch-up
contribution, today you can only make a contribution for tax year 2003
or 2004, and if you don't make one by 4/15/04, you've lost the chance to
make a Roth IRA contribution for 2003.

You can make a contribution for 2003 prior to April 15 of this year. Be sure
your IRA company knows this money is for 2003, so you can still make one for
2004. You have lost the opportunity to make a contribution for 2002.

Default Catch-up Roth Contributions

I'm not terribly up to date on the rules relating to Roth IRA
contributions, could someone please tell me if I can make
contributions to my Roth for previous years missed (i.e. I opened it
and made maximum contributions in 2000 and 2001, but made no
contributions in 2002 nor 2003.

Appreciate your insight

Freddie
