Default Re: Mo' mo' ..Rollover Mutual fund to Roth IRA...

YOU APPEAR TO BE CONFUSED HERE. THE MONIKERS "401(K)" and "IRA" ARE
TYPES OF PLANS. MANY ARE FOUNDED UPON MUTUAL FUNDS AND MANAGED BY
MUTUAL FUND COMPANIES AND THE CHOICES TO INVEST OUTSIDE OF MUTUAL FUNDS
IN A 401(k) WOULD BE EXTREMELY LIMITED (PROBABLY TO COMPANY STOCK
ONLY). DO YOUR TRUST YOUR INVESTMENT ACUMEN ENOUGH TO INVEST IN
INDIVIDUAL STOCKS? YOUR QUESTIONS INDICATE OTHERWISE. IF YOU ARE
FRIGHTENED BY THE RECENT MF SCANDAL, DON'T BE, THERE ARE MUTUAL FUND
COMPANIES, THAT WERE COMPLETELY SCANDAL FREE. TRY VANGUARD, TROWE PRICE
AND OTHERS.

No!

Just remeber the basic rule, all tax deferred (or free in the case of the Roth)
retirment programs only allow cach contributions to be deposited in them.

Default Mo' mo' ..Rollover Mutual fund to Roth IRA...

Hi, thanks for responding to previous post.
I opened my Mutual 3 years ago with about $13k, do to the lows of the last
few years I am still at about $13 maybe slightly less and I am ready to jump
ship. Even if it means taking the tax loss. My previous question was about
rolling it into an IRA. My next question is can it be rolled over into a
401k?
If not any suggestions on where to put this money? I no longer trust the
performance of mutual funds.
