Is there any way to buy/sell > exchange listed stocks without transaction fees in an IRA account? custodian probably won't allow it. In fact, most of them won't for IRAs. You can always buy and sell stocks and bonds without transactions fees. You just have your broker issue the stock certificates or bonds in paper form, and then go find a buyer who has cash and who will accept the securities delivered by hand. This is actually routine with some very large private transactions, but probably not very efficient for smaller amounts. Brent D.
