Default Re: Stupid IRA questions

1) In my opinion, you should consider your taxable and retirement as
two separate portfolios because I assume they are likely to serve two
different purposes. Therefore, look at the sum of the funds in each
to see if they reflect your desired asset allocation.

2) As long as you meet the minimum contributions limits of the funds,
you can spread out your contributions among them each year.

I would treat all your savings as one portfolio and diversify among them (as
opposed to each different account).

You're not an idiot. You're smart for asking. Yes, you can split up your
$3000.

What are you saving for? Do you have emergency funds? Do you plan the buy a
house? Get married?

Figure these out and then match your savings to the targets, short, medium
and long term.

Default Stupid IRA questions

I'm in my early thirties and have contributed the max on my Roth IRA
contributions for the last four years. Two contributions went to VWNFX and
the other two went to FDGFX. Besides these two, I have a balanced group of
mutual funds and a 401k from work. Some stupid questions:

- Should I treat each group (Roth, Mutual Funds, 401k) as a seperate
portfolio? Should each be diversified? Just trying to get my thought
process pointing in the right direction.
- On my Roth IRA contributions, I have contributed the max to ONE fund each
time. I'm single, so could I split up the $3000 between how many ever funds
I want? I feel like an idiot for asking that, because I've just never
thought of it.

Thanks for any comments.
