If your employer's plan allows it; the answer is yes. If not, No! Most plans do> Date: 12/10/03 8:54 AM Pacific Standard Time > Message-id: <4990f9d8.0312100852.49f87a06[at]posting.google.com > Is it possible to roll a 401K into an IRA without leaving the company? not allow a transfer while still employed. |

| Hi there, Is it possible to roll a 401K into an IRA without leaving the company? All material I read assumes that the investor no longer works for the employer who offered the 401K plan, or that he/she has turned 59 1/2. Is this because these are the only times one can roll over a 401K, or are they just the most common cases? Can I do a direct transfer to another qualified retirement account and stay with my employer? If I meet the transfer requirements (60 days, cash to cash, stock to stock, etc.) will there be any other fees or taxes? Are there other restrictions, such as, I have to stay out of the company's 401K for a year, I have to roll over all or nothing, etc., etc.? Thanks for your time. |
