Thanks for the comments
I know how much the broker is making 1%. He was upfront about it. I don't
have a problem with that. I just wanted to see if I could borrow the money
for a smaller interest rate.

I have emailed one or two from the paley.com site but they did not reply.
Thanks anyway.

Ask the broker, "are you making anything on the back?" If he says no,
tell him to put it in writing ("uhh, well I can't do that" THEN WALK).
If he says yes, remind him that, since the refinance boom is over,
there are 1000's of starving morgage brokers who would be happy to
sell a PAR loan.

Check out this resource. It has links to US lenders as well as UK sources:

Default I am about to get finance..but....

I am purchasing a residential property in the US.
I have been pre approved for the mortgage, I only want 65% of the purchase
price. My mortgage broker reckons I am looking at interest rates of around
5.5% fixed for 5 years. This is not so bad in a global sense but as I am
from the UK I cannot get the lowest funds that a US resident could get -
according to my broker.
Does anyone know if there is another way of funding the purchase that my
broker is not telling me that would reduce the interest payments? I need
$130,000.

Thanks
